The plot is that secret documents have gone missing from the factory that makes Bi-Fi Rolls (a kind of salami-based snack) and without them, production has been forced to halt, and supplies will run out in a few days. You play the role of a man called Lukas, and it is your responsibility to scour the city and recover these documents as quickly as possible. The game is controlled with the joystick: you can walk left and right, and press up to go through an exit or talk to a character you are standing next to. At the bottom of the screen is a panel that shows the inventory items you are carrying, as well as three stats: your physical energy, your emotional wellbeing, and your snack levels. While completing your main task, you will also need to make sure these stats are kept topped up, which you can do by buying snacks from street kiosks and by helping people you meet solve their problems. labelimagesubject

[97]***The game allowed switching between PAL and NTSC and stretching the screen to fit independently. While this was intended to let the user display the image how they preferred on a 4:3 monitor or TV, it had the unintended effect of allowing square pixels and an undistorted image when viewed anamorphicly on a 16:10 monitor. The aspect ratios and letterboxing were intended, widescreen support was not, so the [gametag=widescreen]widescreen[/gametag] tag does not apply here.***

As a member of the Resistance it is the player's goal to repel an invasion of unknown beings. These beings, ranging from bugs to robots to zombies (and more), will spawn indefinitely until the player finds the "Evil Masters", which have to be defeated to complete the missions. To accomplish this task one can find better weapons, shield recharges, enemy detectors and pieces of equipment, such as automappers, light sources and a 360° visor, which, due to initially limited field of vision and illumination, are essential to navigate the labyrinths which missions take place in. Exploration, indeed, represents the game's core.

Missions are entirely stand-alone, so, except for secret missions not yet unlocked, the player is allowed to select any mission he/she would like to play from the main menu. Some missions are multi-phase, meaning that the player has to complete in strict sequence the phases they are subdivided into. Each mission has a difficulty rating - the higher the difficulty the more complex its labyrinth(s) will be.

A notable aspect of the game is the fact that the setting can be completely redefined by means of themes - at the time of writing, there are 6 themes that render sci-fi/alien, medieval, underground and pseudo-vectorial environments.

Crash Garrett  ERE Informatique (Metal Hurlant)1989 3.5disk commercial keyboard license-proprietary mouse usa visualnovel wordinput Crash Garrett is an adventure in the mold of the classic 1930s film serials: you take on the role of dashing Crash Garrett, a flying ace who makes a living by flying rich Hollywood types around on private flights across the west coast of the United States. As the game opens, Garrett is taking journalist Cynthia Sleeze to an exclusive interview with a high-powered psychoanalyst to the stars, as part of a red-hot story. He soon becomes entangled in the story himself, and must use his wits, cunning and fists to save the day.

While the game takes typed commands, the action is shown as a sort of animated comic book. There is a background image that sets the scene (it may be a mini-map, that shows Garrett's current location marked with a red X) and on top of this are comic book panel-like portraits of the characters currently in the scene, that move around the screen and speak in speech bubbles. Some versions of the game use synthesized speech, but only when Garrett addresses the player, for "What do you want to do now?"-type prompts.***

This is a text only interactive fiction.
This game was also published in 1987 as part of Infocom's Classic Mystery Library compilation.

Play a famous skilled detective. She (or He) has been invited to England by a friend who is in need of her detective skills. Her friend is being tormented by a ghost in a castle, or a fake ghost? Regardless of its nature, why is it tormenting her friend? There's a secret treasure hidden in the castle. How is that fact connected? The castle is full of interesting characters who will interact differently with a male or female detective. Additionally, there are four main story paths for either one to take.

Pop-Up Infogrames1990 3.5disk commercial joystick keyboard license-proprietary media score Pop-Up is a basic action game in which the player takes control over a bouncing ball. The goal of each one-screen level (the background themes progress from the big bang all the way to the future) is simple: bouncing between platforms, collecting as many points as possible and above all the exit key which opens up the way to the next level. Of course there are various hazards to overcome, mostly in the form of special platforms like sticky or angled ones. There are also other tools to collect which can be used to make life easier at other places: water drops for extinguishing fires, a hammer for destroying walls and keys for opening up passages.***
